These excursions are directed specifically towards the house guests, as well as to all those who have selected a standard tourist area in the south of the island, close to Yumbo and the dunes of Maspalomas but want to give their holidays a different touch by ¨letting themselves be taken…!!!¨

As you can see, there is a world to discover in an area that at first glance seems limited and small, not in vain is Gran Canaria known as ¨a continent in miniature¨. List of events that are worth a visit during the whole year; if any of those events awakens your curiosity get in contact with us and we’ll give you any kind of information you need.

- Night of the Three Wise Men at Las Palmas (05/01/). Thousands of people are gathered throughout the streets of the old commercial zone of Triana until early morning. Shops are open until after midnight and many go shopping. The majority are looking for fun!.

- Blooming of the almond trees. Starting around 15th January up to 15th of February. During almost 1 and ½ month the basalt rocks that crown the island, higher than 1000 metres, get dressed in pink and white; clouds slip through the canyons and small waterfalls that descend from the slopes at this time of year create the rest of the effect…

- Celebration of the flowering of the almond trees in Tejeda and Valsequillo around mid-February. Tradition, folklore, craftwork, music and gastronomy.

- Las Palmas Carnival in February. An explosion of colour and music! Lots of fun in the middle of winter for a whole month with parade and open-air kiosks at Santa Catalina Park.

- International cinema festival at Las Palmas. Last week of March.

- Cheese celebration 30/04…. Old part of Saint Mª of Guia. Exposition, tasting and selling of local cheese. Craftwork and folklore of the island. Exposition and milking of indigenous livestock.

- Gay Pride around mid-June. Open air kiosks at Santa Catalina Park during three consecutive nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), gay and lesbian film festival in original film versions at Monopol cinemas. Parade in the centre of Las Palmas.

- Saint John. Celebration of the foundation of Las Palmas. 24/06 Over 150.000 people gather this night at the beach of las Canteras in order to swim and celebrate under the purifying lights of the biggest firework display of the year.

- Mud celebration in Atalaya. (Santa Brigida) 1st week of July. Population traditionally dedicated to craftwork. Water and mud war.

- During July, August and September there are plenty of celebrations. Most exciting and fun are the following: La Rama de Agaete 04/08. The celebration of the water in Telde 12/08. The celebration of the puddle in Aldea in mid-September and many more…

- The theatre and dance festival is celebrated at Las Palmas in July and August

- The open air ethnic music and dance festival ¨WOMAD¨ (World Of Music And Dance) at the Santa Catalina Park. Four days and nights full of fun: concerts, tribal dancing, workshops, etc…


There are so many events on our island that we certainly haven’t mentioned everything, so we suggest that when you know the dates you are visiting Gran Canaria, contact us and we’ll inform you about anything you want, and if you wish, we’ll accompany and guide you, to see, hear and feel Gran Canaria as it moves, lives and vibrates totally away from the touristy norm.
